TRACK 2 — ARTICLE 15: Can I set my own prices? (Track 2 — For AI Experts)
Title: Can I set my own prices?
Description: Yes. You set your hourly rate. When a client books through the Lead Pool, you make a tailored offer based on the work involved.
Overview
Your expertise, your price. Beam doesn't dictate what you charge. You set your hourly rate when you create your profile, and it's visible to anyone who visits your public Beam page. That rate is your baseline — the number clients see before they even submit a question.
Your hourly rate
Set your hourly rate during profile setup. This is your public rate — visible on your Beam profile and used as the reference point for all sessions. You can update it anytime in Settings.
There's no minimum or maximum. Set a rate that reflects the value of your expertise.
How pricing works in the Lead Pool
When a company submits a question and you're matched to it, pricing works slightly differently. After a discovery call, you make a tailored offer based on the specific work involved.
Most of the time your offer is simply your hourly rate. But if the question requires preparation, research, or a longer session, you can adjust the offer to reflect that — in half-hour increments from 0.5 to 3 hours.
The client sees your offer clearly before committing. They can accept or decline. No pressure on either side.
Examples
Straightforward question, no prep needed → 1 hour at your hourly rate
Complex question requiring preparation → 1 hour prep + 1 hour call = 2 hours at your hourly rate
Quick focused question → 0.5 hours at your hourly rate
Common questions
Can I change my hourly rate after signup? → Yes. Update it anytime in Settings. Changes apply to future bookings only.
Is my rate visible to everyone? → Yes. Your hourly rate is public on your Beam profile.
Can I charge different rates for different types of questions? → Your public rate is fixed as your hourly rate. In the Lead Pool, your tailored offer reflects the total estimated time — not a different rate.
What if a client thinks my rate is too high? → They can decline your offer. You're under no obligation to lower your rate, and they're under no obligation to accept.
Does Beam take a cut of what I charge? → Yes. Beam takes a 10% platform fee on every completed paid session. You keep 90%.
Can I offer a discount to a specific client? → Not through a formal discount system at this stage. Your tailored offer in the Lead Pool already gives you flexibility on total price via estimated hours.
