Overview
Beam has its own built-in video platform. All sessions — discovery calls and paid deep-dive calls — happen there. You don't need Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, or any other external tool. And you can't replace Beam's video with them either.
This is a deliberate product decision, not a limitation.
Why Beam keeps calls on its own platform
Best in class video quality We've tested Beam's built-in video against the major platforms. The quality holds up — and in our experience outperforms the alternatives for the focused, professional conversations that happen on Beam.
Everything in one place Booking, payment, and the call itself all happen on Beam. No juggling links, no "which tool are we using?" back and forth with clients. One platform, one flow, zero friction.
Payment is tied to the session Beam's payment system is connected to the call. The session happening on Beam is what triggers the payout process. Moving off-platform breaks that chain.
Built for what's coming Keeping calls on Beam's own platform means we can build on top of it — session time management, in-call features, and more are on the roadmap. None of that is possible if sessions happen on external tools.
Quality and support When a call runs on Beam, Beam can support it. If something goes wrong on a call, our team can investigate and resolve it. That's not possible with external tools.
Common questions
Can I ask a client to use Zoom instead? → No. All calls must run on Beam's built-in video platform.
What if a client insists on using their own tool? → Explain that all Beam sessions run on Beam's platform. It's a platform requirement, not a personal preference.
What if I prefer Google Meet or Teams for my own workflow? → For your own network outside Beam, use whatever you like. For Beam sessions, the platform is Beam.
What if there are technical issues during a call? → Troubleshoot within Beam first. If the issue can't be resolved, contact Beam support. See our article on technical issues for full guidance.
Does the client need to download anything to join a Beam call? → No. Beam runs entirely in the browser. No downloads or installs required for either party.
Is Beam's video platform secure? → Yes. All calls on Beam are private and run on a secure platform.
