Overview
When a question is matched to you, you can see the question and its context — but not who submitted it. The company name, the person's identity, and their LinkedIn profile are all hidden. Anonymity is the default on both sides of the platform.
This is by design. Business leaders share sensitive strategic questions on Beam precisely because they trust their identity won't be exposed prematurely. That trust is what makes the questions worth answering.
What you can see
The full question and any context provided in the intake form
The industry or domain context if provided
The type of decision being faced
What you cannot see
The name of the person who submitted the question
Their company name or size
Their LinkedIn profile or any identifying details
When does that change?
Anonymity lifts when the business leader decides to book a video call with you. At that point, their identity is shared so the session can take place. This only happens if they actively choose to proceed — and only with you specifically.
Throughout the entire discovery phase — submitting, reading answers, comparing experts — they remain anonymous to everyone including you.
Common questions
Can I find out who submitted a question before answering? → No. The submitter's identity is fully anonymous until they book a video call with you.
Why are questions anonymous? → Business leaders share sensitive strategic decisions on Beam. Anonymity is what makes them comfortable doing that — and what makes the questions high quality and specific.
Does anonymity ever lift before a call is booked? → No. Identity is only revealed at the point of booking a video call.
Can I decline to answer a question once I see it? → Yes. You're not obligated to respond to every matched question. If it's outside your expertise or not a good fit, you can pass.
What if I recognize the question or context? → Treat it as anonymous regardless. Beam's confidentiality model depends on experts respecting the anonymity of submitters.
Do I find out who they are if they only book a discovery call? → Yes. A discovery call is still a booked call — identity is shared at that point.
